Of the many wonderful Rotts that we have bred that can be seen in the UBERSEIN DOGS pages, there are nevertheless a number who have stood out for us in their own particular way. Some are the beginnings of our kennel, some are our first big winners, others exceptional working or producing Rotts. These animals command their own page:
Reva was one of 4 bitches and 6 males whelped in the tremendously successful Ubersein C litter. In a litter deep in quality bitches and after a great deal of umming and aahing, she was relegated to 3rd pick in what was an extremely difficult choice. We had decided to keep two bitches for ourselves - her litter sister Ceilidh was similar in type, but better angulated, although Reva did have a prettier headpiece and darker eyes. At the last minute, we moved Reva down to third pick, deciding to hedge our bets and keep the purple girl (Caper) as second pick - she was quite different in type, more cobby and substantial. So Reva went off to the Thornton family, to happily enjoy her life as a pet. However, we kept an eye on her progress and by the time she was 14 months old, we realised she was far too good to never be shown. With her sister Ceilidh already titled, and with the blessing of the wonderful Thornton family, we brought Reva out and started showing her.
Reva was V Rated 7 times, her crowning Glory being V1, Challenge and Best In Show at the South Australia Rottweiler Club Championship Show of 1999 under Specialist Lex Quartel of the Netherlands. She also took out her first Best Brood Bitch In Show award with progeny from her first litter. Her second litter had just been born 11 weeks previously.
Reva's contribution to both Ubersein, and the Australian Rottweiler world at large has been enormous. She is the dam of NRCA, Grand Ch & Dual Ch. (T) Ubersein Geronimo (the first Rottweiler so titled and the only other one to have achieved that title is his son) and also of 6 other Australian Champions; 5 National Champions and 8 Multi V Rated Rottweilers. The success of her progeny in the ring and in producing on, both for our kennel and for others, has without a doubt placed her as one of a handful of the most successful Brood Bitches Australia has ever seen. To date she has won 5 Brood Bitch awards, both on points and parade method.
To Reva, we salute you and your magnificent achievements. You have brought a great deal of pleasure to many people. To the Thornton's, thank you for your unerring co-operation in allowing us to show and breed from Reva. Your graciousness is appreciated more deeply and widely than you will ever know. To Sue Basford and Anita Potter, owners of the sire's of Reva's first two litters, thank you for your involvement in allowing us to use Diesel and Macka to such great effect. And to John King and Ray Scells, owner/breeders of Reva's sire Dack - THANKS! Where would we be without you??!! It's a great shame that a super dog like Dack has more respect now than when he was with us.
She quickly earned the nickname "Reva the Reserve Queen", having gained about 15 Reserve Challenge Certificates in almost as many shows - not being beaten by the same bitch - many bitches taking the honour, but we just couldn't seem to crack the points! However, eventually, she earned her title and then was only shown at Specialty Shows. This too was somewhat limited as we didn't like to take her away from her family for too many weekends away.
